Weathered love
Since 1876 this grieving man has looked Heavenwards, imploring God to give him back his beloved wife.
This photograph is a detail of a very Victorian monument to a lost wife and mother; A father and son stand bereft over her bed as her soul passes on to eternity.
I like the way it has weathered, softening but not hiding his stoic expression, his brave face, his abject loss.
