Ullswater Bench
One of the most endearing things about the English lake District in Cumbria is the number of benches placed in memory of people who loved the area and its spectacular views.
This particular bench overlooks Ullswater from the top of the pass leading to Matindale, a tiny hamlet nestled in the dale between the fells. I photographed this on an early morning walk as the sun rose over the mountains casting a warm glow over the chilly slopes.
